Although his cultural power is almost completely bound up with the eighties, Prince signed off the decade with one of his most querulous and divisive records, the soundtrack to the 1989 Tim Burton film 'Batman'. The lyrics of each song are associated with a different character in the film - 'Electric Chair' with Jack Nicholson's Joker character, for instance, or 'Lemon Crush' with Vicki Vale. The lead single and closer 'Batdance' is an intended all-cast finale. A bit of a hidden gem in the Purple One's vast discography.
